Welcome to the Art of Sarah Katherine
Hello! My name is Sarah Woolley. Most recently many are calling me by my first and middle names, Sarah Katherine, which pleasantly reminds me of my childhood! This website represents some of my artwork of the past eight years. All the profit I make from selling it right now will go towards my time of study at a Bible school in Québec called Capernwray Québec.
Some Background on Me. . .
I grew up in a very artistic home, as my mom is a painter and my dad owned an art gallery for sixteen years. I just happen to share this interest! Throughout my life I've taken lots of art courses, from drawing and painting to sculpting and photography. My B.A. was in Creative Writing and Fine Art, and I did my senior project on artists who use writing in their work, including a series of my own of forty-nine therapeutic mixed media works (click on "Mixed Media" to see examples).
In March of 2002, after much revelation that the Lord Jesus Christ is alive and can live in me, I accepted Him into my heart and submitted to His Lordship in my life, thus wishing to fulfill whatever purpose He has for me. Originally from Oregon in the U.S., the past four years I spent in Pretoria, South Africa working in an apprenticeship program called NieuCommunities that mentors young Christian leaders into missional lifestyles. While there, I sensed God calling me to combine my skills in creativity with cross-cultural ministry- a prospect that most delighted me! Most of this art originates from when I was on the brink of this new missional journey.
When my time in South Africa ended last year, I had a deep desire to study the Bible more intensively at a Torchbearers International school, and felt specifically led to Québec. I've been here now almost four months, really soaking up my time in Christian community serving others, learning more about the reality of our Messiah throughout the Old and New Testaments, and growing in my reliance upon the Lord. I'll be here through mid-May, and am still seeking God on where He may lead me following school. From March 10th through the 28th, I am attending a ministry team trip to India through Capernwray on which I sensed God leading me. I'm excited to see what God has planned, as His plans are always good when we follow Him in obedience! ("No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly," says Psalm 84:11, NKJV).
Regarding Supporting Me During Bible School. . .
The money from the sale of this art will go to fund my biblical studies here at Capernwray and the ministry team trip to India. I hope to raise the amount for the India trip ($2800), and as much as possible for tuition from February through May (four months at around $1100 per month = $4400). All together, this is a total of $7200. Right now I am using a loan but I hope to pay off much of this loan by the time I get back to Oregon mid-May. I am looking into how those donating from the U.S. may be able to get tax deductions through Capernwray and will get back to you promptly about that!
